I have focused on my personal transformation and transitions where the world is seen intimately, as if seeing through a magnifying glass. Details are seen as compositions with intensity of color and simplicity of form. The Abstract Expressionists have greatly influenced my personal style. When I get out of my way and let my higher power guide me, my art speaks from my subconscious self.
Monotype is an abstract, painterly form of printmaking that offers an element of spontaneous surprise. You can read more about my process in the 2017 CSP Printmakiing Journal. Also visit my website at: www.bonnieclayart.com.
Bonnie has transformed her artwork over her 35+ years as an artist from ceramics to printmaking, clay monotype, encaustic monotype, encaustic mixed media and altered photography. Bonnie taught ceramics at Mastick Senior Center for 12 years which included printmaking on clay while she also worked on her own artwork at her personal studio. She also works and teaches Encaustic Mixed Media, including Encaustic Printmaking at her Clay Art Studio in Alameda, California. She is now focusing on her own artwork while also helping friends achieve their art goals.
The uniqueness and complexity of working these mediums adds not only adds to the allure of this work, but gives each piece a greater sense of depth and intimacy. Bonnie prefers working in the abstract and also adds personal subject matter to her artworks.
